Student and Faculty Portal

Improving the user experience for the students and faculty of Stanford University

Stanford University Student Portal Redesigned by Base22

Challenge

Stanford University was looking for an experienced partner that could help the Higher Education institution to improve the look and feel of its current student and faculty portal, implemented in Liferay DXP. There were multiple pain points related to the existing implementation of its Digital Experience Platform: complex Information Architecture, confusing user journeys, and overall difficulty in the content authoring experience. It was important for the university to make UI/UX improvements, consider the needs of its audiences, understand the existing digital environment, and leverage the full potential of its Digital Experience Platform.

Solution

First as a design engagement, and later, as a development project, Base22 worked with Stanford University to build and launch a modern student and faculty portal in order to meet the expectations of new generations of students. It leveraged the patterns of the Base22 Portal Blueprint for Digital Experience Platforms in combination with the team’s knowledge of Liferay DXP. The project was successful for the current needs and for the technology roadmap: the improved implementation set in place would help the university with other business units and their digital channels.
