Challenge
CEMEX is a global building materials company that provides high-quality products and reliable service to customers in more than 50 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia. Many countries had their own IT providers who were developing customer-facing websites without global standards for content strategy, user experience design, and SEO. CEMEX needed to standardize on a global platform built on enforceable standards for countries and its providers to follow.
Solution
Base22 was responsible for developing a model all countries should use on a standardized Digital Experience Platform (DXP). The model provided a UX vision, a design language, information architecture, and a content strategy including SEO standards. The model required flexibility to accommodate the business needs of each country and project.
Base22 then executed the redesign tasks following the design language, migrated content, and implemented a new customer business portal for the countries of Mexico, the United Kingdom, Poland, and Germany to serve as the blueprint for other countries. Base22 developed content strategies and content standards, held on-site design/implementation workshops, developed REST services for systems integration to the portal and created training material, videos, and custom resources for an international audience to ensure change management.
As a result of these keystone projects, Base22 then acted as an advisor to CEMEX IT providers across the world to assist in the migration of remaining countries.
