Back then, our core team was consulting for PricewaterhouseCoopers and, after implementing an award winning B2B portal for one of the world’s leading pharmaceutical manufacturers, we were acquired by IBM. This happened just as IBM lit up the portal scene with their e-Business “On Demand” campaign and it became clear that portal software could be the center of the modern enterprise and transform the way people work. We dutifully began to craft an approach that could guide organizations through this transformation.

As we helped several organizations craft their vision, we were refining our own. We learned that creating a single, personalized access point to a variety of content, applications, people, and processes was no trivial task.
