Year in Review

For our movie fans in the audience, there is a famous line from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid that goes something like this: "Who are those guys?"

Another quote from one of our colleagues at IBM, "Where did you guys come from?", caused us to smile and reflect a bit. As most of you know, success doesn't happen overnight. 2011 marked our 4th anniversary as a firm and, for some of us, 2011 marked a decade or more of working in the enterprise web space.

One of our primary objectives in 2011 was to raise our visibility in the portal and social business marketplace with partners such as IBM and with companies who understand that creating the right user experience is a critical success factor for driving adoption, collaboration and innovation through their web channel.

We were very fortunate to add a number of new enterprise clients to our Base22 family. Our new clients and our existing ones share our belief in the importance of good user design. We continually enhance our design assets and we share these with all of our clients. When we make an improvement for one, we look to share the improvement with all.

Our legacy and our continued focus will be on creating exceptional user experiences using enterprise web platforms such as IBM WebSphere Portal, IBM Web Content Manager and IBM Connections.

Our Clients

We exceeded all of our growth objectives in 2011 because of the outstanding support from our clients. We would like to acknowledge those who chose Base22 as one of their professional service providers in 2011.

Project Highlights

With our continued focus on creating exceptional user experiences, we are highlighting several engagements for 2011:

Avery Dennison

Avery Dennison is a recognized industry leader that develops innovative identification and decorative solutions for businesses and consumers worldwide.

Avery Dennison infoxchange

InfoXchange is Avery Dennison's employee-facing web portal. The company has also embraced the use of social tools for employee collaboration. Working with Base22 and IBM, Avery Dennison completed a redesign of their employee portal with the goals of improving the user experience and creating a more seamless integration with their social business platform, IBM Connections.

Avery Dennison modeled their employee portal redesign after Base22's proven design blueprint for employee portals. Additionally, Avery Dennison upgraded to the latest version of IBM Connections and worked with Base22 to integrate the look and feel and navigation into a common look and feel for all of their users.

The new system went live in December 2011.

CEMEX

CEMEX is a global leader in the building materials industry that provides high-quality products and reliable service to customers and communities worldwide.

Innovation is a central aspect of CEMEX's culture; they continually strive to find better solutions for their customers. This means CEMEX is always reinventing their processes in order to increase efficiency in operations and reduce the environmental footprint.

Working with Base22, CEMEX raised the bar for collaboration and innovation with the launch of their new social business platform at the end of October, 2011. CEMEX was an early adopter of social business collaboration using IBM Connections to facilitate innovation internally, but they were not standing still.

Base22 and CEMEX created a seamless and personalized user experience that brought together the relevant content and services delivered by CEMEX to all its employees plus the powerful social business tools to unleash the creativity of its workforce.

CEMEX made the decision to embrace WebSphere Portal v7 as their global portal standard and primary employee gateway for all things Web and all things Social. And from a user perspective, that meant that IBM Connections had to integrate seamlessly into WebSphere Portal.

Shift, their new social business platform, integrates WebSphere Portal v7 and IBM Connections v3 into a seamless and personalized user experience for all employees.

UPS

UPS is the world's largest package delivery company and a leading global provider of specialized transportation and logistics services.

As we enter our 5th year of business, we remind ourselves every day of the importance of having a client like UPS, who've been with us from the beginning. Each year we are fortunate to be involved in a number of initiatives as they continue to enhance their employee portal, UPSers.com.

We want to thank our clients, our partners and our Base22 team members for a remarkable year. We enter 2012 with great optimism. Here are a few things of note:

  • We will continue to hire highly skilled people who share our passion for client service and user experience design.

And as we grow, we continue to remind ourselves that values matter and we remain steadfast in our commitment to build the kind of firm that will never compromise our values:

  1. Passion for providing excellent client service and solving client problems,
  2. Personal integrity and honesty in everything we say and do, and
  3. Respect for the individual

On behalf of our Base22 family, we wish you a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year. We thank you for your support and we look forward to serving you in the years ahead.
